Happy Friday! Today I'm sharing the last of the cards we created at Saturday's Post World Card Making Day Party! For this card, I decided to try the faux shutter technique, which involves using strips of paper to create a frame your focal image and divide up the sections of the card so it almost looks as though it has been pieced together. I think this may be one of those times where a photo (or two) is worth a thousand words, so here goes:
I colored the grass under the pumpkin used Old Olive Stampin' Blends. The pumpkin stamp is from the Pick of the Patch Stamp Set, as is the greeting, which is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on the designer series paper layer. The pumpkin is stamped in Cajun Craze Ink, and punched out with the Pick of the Patch Builder Punch. The leaf is stamped in Old Olive, and the stem and vine are stamped in a combination of Crumb Cake and Early Espresso, applied with Stampin' Write Markers. For finishing touches, I added some Adhesive Backed Solid Gems and a few dots of Gold Metallic Enamel Effects Basics.
During the class, I noticed some of the pumpkins on cards were a brighter color and realized that I had a Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Marker out as well as the Cajun Craze ink, and it turned out that if you inked up the image first in the Cajun Craze and then colored with the Pumpkin Pie marker, it really looked neat. I tried it myself, and here's how that turned out:
Of course, to prevent discoloration of your Pumpkin Pie Marker with the Cajun Craze after this, you will want to clean the marker off by scribbling it on paper until there is no more Cajun Craze coming off of it.
You may also notice that the greeting on this card is a bit different. It is stamped on a piece of vellum die cut with the Stylish Shapes Die Cuts. That helps the greeting stand out on a busier background design like this one.
Hope you have enjoyed these cards! Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for visiting!
