Painted Petals for this week's Global Design Project Challenge!

This week's Global Design Project Challenge (GDP460) is a really fun CASE the Designer challenge!  I love the card designer Susan Wong created, and decided to try to copy her layout pretty closely.  I was especially excited to try to recreate the watercoloring and drips in the background!  I decided to use Old Olive for my background, but I think if I did it over again, I would want to try Pool Party for a bit more contrast with the flower.  I also lightly watercolored around the edge of the card base, beneath the watercolored layer.

The flower and greeting are stamps from the July 2024 Painted Petals Paper Pumpkin kit.  I watercolored the flower with Melon Mambo and Old Olive inks.

The Melon Mambo strips behind the flower and greeting are scraps from the Paper Pumpkin kit, which I stamped with the diagonal stripe stamp from the kit.

The strings were pulled out of the new Wild Wheat Rustic Striped Ribbon, gathered back together in a rough loop, and fastened between the greeting and card with dimensionals.

For the finishing touch to the front, I added some of the Pretty in Pink Shimmer Gems around the card front and a Peach Pie gem in the center of the largest flower.

I also added some watercolored splatters and a stamped and watercolored flower on the inside of the card:

Such a fun challenge!  Hope you'll consider playing along, too!

Painted Petals Framed Artwork

Here is the first of my alternate projects with the July 2024 Painted Petals Paper Pumpkin kit.  I had seen an idea by Angie Rothert, who took frames from the Happy Houseplant kit and replaced the art in those with images from the Painted Petals kit.  I didn't have those frames, but had a small frame from a Paper Pumpkin kit from several years ago, and decided to use the poppies from Painted Petals to create this decor piece.  Pretty quick, easy, and fun  to make!

Life is Sweet Paper Pumpkin Cards!

I have finally started working on my July Paper Pumpkin and am making slow but sure progress with it!  In the meantime, I have my June Paper Pumpkin projects ready to share with you!  This kit, called Life is Sweet, had ingredients to create 9 cards of three different designs, with coordinating envelopes.  The first photo shows the three different designs made following the instructions in the kit.

Here's a closer look at each of these cards:

Here are the three cards I made for each of the three designs, and you can see I did end up making some slight changes to the other cards I made:

This was such a fun kit!  I love how quickly it went together as well!

Hidden Message Card with Full of Life and Changing Leaves

Hi!  Here is a hidden message fun fold card, that I was inspired to make by my friend Judy-Ann Rosti.  She shared with me a video by Sam Calcott showing how to make these,  and I was so impressed!   I made my card 4-1/4 x 5-1/2, which is a little smaller than the card Sam showed, and will fit, although a little snugly, in an a2 envelope.

My card is created with a combination fo the Full of Life Designer Series Paper and stamps and dies from the Changing Leaves Bundle!

I have a little video I'm editing to show you this card in action, too!  It's pretty magical to see that!  Stay tuned!

Season of Green and Gold Interlocks with Frosted Forest

Today's card is an Interlocking Fancy Fold Card.  I found the instructions for this type of fancy fold card in a video by Gina K.  For my version, I decided to use the Season of Green and Gold Specialty Designer Series Paper along with the Frosted Forest Bundle.  One of the front panels features images fussy cut from the designer series paper.  The other has a tree that is stamped and has ink blended on with the decorative masks from the Frosted Forest Bundle (I also used those for the tree inside the card).

While I designed this as a birthday card, I think it would make an elegant Christmas card as well, with a different greeting inside.
