Duoprinting with Chlorophyll Cards

This summer, I saw this fabulous tutorial by Lydia Fiedler on Splitcoaststampers for Duoprinting with Chlorophyll and had to give it a try!

First, I decided to experiment with some geraniums blooming in my front yard.  I have both deep pink and red flowers.  Here's how the printing turned out with the pink -- I was surprised at the purplish-blue that printed on the paper:

And here are the cards I created with those pieces:

I did add a bit of orange to the flower centers of the card above.  In the card below, the first photo is of the un-retouched printing and the second photo is after I decided to add a bit of Blushing Bride ink to the petals:

I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits to trim down my chlorophyll-printed cardstock, and framed those with Old Olive Card Stock cut with the a die from the Layering Ovals and Layering Squares, respectively.  The greetings on both card and Sweet Sugarplum die cut flower on the bottom card are created with the Eastern Beauty Bundle.  The patterned paper on both cards is from the Petal Garden Memories and More Card Pack.

For the red flowers, here is the piece where I am arranging the flowers before pressing:

And, here are the two pieces that were created by the pressing:

These are the three finished cards I create from these two pieces:

I again used the Stitched Shapes FramelitsLayering Ovals, Layering Circles, and Eastern Beauty Bundle.  The patterned paper on the first card is from the Petal Garden Memories and More Card Pack.  The embossing on the middle card is with the Tulip Embossing Folder (retired).  On the bottom card, the embossing is with the Layered Leaves Dynamic Embossing Folder and stamps are from the Orange Blossom set.  The ribbon is the Fresh Fig 1/8" Sheer Ribbon.

My favorite flowers that I experimented with for this technique were California poppies.  We have a variety of colors that were growing in our garden at the time, and here's how they turned out:

I did end up doing a bit of watercoloring to these to add and intensify the color a little for my finished pieces:

There were a few flowers I tried and wasn't crazy about the results -- these are some copper colored daisies:

This is actually my second attempt with these.  In the first attempt, the centers were so juicy, the result was a huge mess . . . for this attempt, I cut out most of the centers, but even still, I didn't like the brown look in the center of the printed paper . . .

One tip I figured out as a result of this part of the experiment is that the chlorophyll is a lot easier to clean from your plates if you wrap them with some type of cling wrap (like Glad Press n Seal)!

And, some African violets:

The results here weren't terrible, but the colors were much more subtle than with the geraniums and poppies.

Hope you enjoyed these and are inspired to try some Chlorophyll Duoprinting of your own!  Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

Paper Pumpkin Sprinkled With Love -- Part 2

Hi!  Here are some more alternate cards I created with the May 2017 Sprinkled With Love kit this summer.  These were inspired by some great ideas I'd seen on Pinterest for alternative projects (here's the link to my board for this kit, if you'd like to check that out).

These card were mini donuts, created using Circle Framelits and one of the flower dies from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits:

The next cards have donut piles inspired by Rachel Tessman's creations in this post and this card by the crafty yogi:

I decided to CASE this card by Monika Davis

Then, I created some variations on that theme:

And, finally, decided to create a card with a bunch of the hearts and a few sweet little flowers (created with the little flower on the Tree Builder Punch, and shaped with a stylus pressed in the center, before adding a pearl to the center):

Hope you enjoyed these!  Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

Paper Pumpkin Sprinkled With Love Projects -- Part 1

Hi!   I've got Paper Pumpkin on the brain today because it is the 10th and that is the last day to sign up for this month's kit!  (So, if you haven't done that yet, be sure to head over to www.paperpumpkin.com and do that!  You won't want to miss out on this month's kit, which promises to be filled with projects for Christmas giving!)  Anyway, I came across some cards I created with the May 2017 Sprinkled With Love kit this summer and thought it's about time I share those!

These first sets of cards are created following the directions that came with the kit, with only a slight variation here and there:

However, I had seen lots of great ideas on Pinterest for alternative projects (here's the link to my board for this kit!), so decided to try some of those out!  The next two cards were inspired by these cards by Cathy Caines.  I used Circle Thinlits to create the donut, with pieces from the kit for the icing, and the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die for the greeting:

I had so much fun with these, I ended up making lots more cards.  Here's a sneak peek at my box filled with all I created:

Stay tuned for more photos of my alternate cards, coming soon!

Happy World Card Making Day, plus In Color Orchids and Embossing Paste Card!

Hi!  Happy World Card Making Day!  Hope you are finding some time to celebrate by creating a card or two or more!!!   I did a little creating this morning, and hope to help one of my boys finish up a project for school, in which he has created 70 cards to give to patients at a local hospital.  He has the cards filled out and a layer of designer paper attached, but needs to add some greetings and embellishments.  That's my kind of project!  ;)

Speaking of which, I have a card to share with you today, too!  This is one I created this summer for a swap with my friend Marlene.  For this, I decided to try out some techniques with embossing paste and ink up my Climbing Orchid Bundle stamps!  Here's how my card turned out:

The background is a design from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper, and I applied embossing paste that I'd tinted with Fresh Fig ink refill onto that using the brick design from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks.

I also used embossing paste on the vase (a circle die cut from a Gold Foil sheet), but this time through a mask I created using the Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies and some Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter sprinkled onto the paste:

The orchids are stamped in Powder Pink and Fresh Fig for the blooms, with a bit of Peekaboo Peach in the centers, and the leaves are Tranquil Tide.

I created an orchid for the outside of the envelope as well:

And decorated the envelope's back flap with  a design from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper and a piece of Tranquil Tide card stock.

Thanks for visiting my blog!
